Quick Bathroom Planning Checklist
Planning a bathroom build or renovation? This checklist will guide you through key considerations - from optimising layout and maximising space, to adding a touch of luxury. Use these tips to ensure your bathroom is as practical as it is inviting.
Hide the toilet!
Ideally, you don’t want the toilet to be the first thing you see when you enter the bathroom.
Two-in-one
If space is tight and you want both a shower and a bathtub, install a shower over bath.
Shower only
These days, many people opt to put a shower only in their bathroom to save on space and to suit a busy lifestyle.
Separate wet & dry
Try to separate wet and dry areas as much as possible. For example, place the shower and bath furthest from the door so any water is kept away from main traffic areas.
Underfloor Heating
If your budget allows, consider installing underfloor heating. It eliminates the shock of cold tiles underfoot in winter and adds a layer of luxury. An affordable alternative is a ceiling heat lamp – it may not be the prettiest choice, but they are effective. Another option is a heated towel rail, which minimises laundry and cosy, warm towels are always within reach.
Placement of taps
Give careful thought to which end of the shower you want to place your taps. If your shower screen is fixed, ensure you have enough room to turn on the shower without getting wet.
